The Custom Design of a Wine Cellar at Prieuré Saint Nicolas de Campagnac
Located in Sainte Anastasie, in the heart of southern France, the Prieuré Saint Nicolas de Campagnac now features a new space dedicated to wine presentation and tasting. For this unique project, Wine Interior Architecture was commissioned to design a bespoke environment that harmonizes with the historical character of the site. Here’s how we proceeded.
Creating an immersive experience among the prestigious wines of the region, our team designed an intimate and ergonomic wine space, perfectly integrated within the priory. A creation by Wine Interior Architecture.

The Prieuré Saint Nicolas de Campagnac, a place rich in history and wine
The Prieuré Saint Nicolas de Campagnac, dating back to the 12th century, is a remarkable historical site. Surrounded by vineyards, it provides an ideal setting for the production of quality wines. The vineyards are carefully cultivated using traditional methods that respect the environment, revealing wines with both complex and refined aromas.
The priory has always been a place of gathering and sharing, and it continues this tradition with its new wine space, where visitors can discover and taste local wines while exploring its rich history.
A large yet intimate wine space for an exceptional place
Offering a stunning view of the surrounding landscapes, the Prieuré Saint Nicolas de Campagnac houses several beautifully restored rooms dedicated to well-being and discovery, whether it be oenological, culinary, or cultural. In the restaurant, refined dishes are paired with local wines, while relaxation areas allow guests to savor each moment.
In this spirit of hedonism and sensory awakening, the team at Wine Interior Architecture was commissioned to create and integrate a wine space within one of the priory’s main rooms: the Chai.
Which wine furniture to choose for this room?
After a careful study of the space and its possibilities, our main challenge was to ensure continuity between the historic design of the priory and the functional qualities of a true wine tasting cellar. With limited floor space, we needed to choose wine furniture perfectly adapted to avoid cluttering the room.
We opted for Wine Interior Architecture modules from the Essential System range, known for their robustness and elegant design, which allow for a “breathing” effect, highlighting both their own architecture and that of this historic monument.
Essential System modules in steel and solid oak
To ensure the solidity of our installation, we chose a steel structure, combined with solid oak in some areas, to bring warmth and authenticity. The depth of the modules optimizes the space while allowing for efficient bottle storage.
The interior architecture of the priory provided us with a beautiful ceiling height, which allowed us to fully exploit the vertical space with our modular system. This way, we were able to increase storage capacity while maintaining the harmony of the room.
Immersion in the oenological tasting room
By adorning the walls of the room with carefully arranged bottles, the custom-made Architecture Intérieure du Vin furniture creates an immersive and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for tastings and oenology workshops. Various ergonomic options have been integrated to facilitate the handling of bottles, glasses, and sommelier accessories.
The shelves are arranged to keep all elements within easy reach, with storage drawers and horizontal trays to hold bottles upright. A scenographic approach has also been taken to enhance the tasting space, with display stands and spotlights highlighting the bottles.
